As we head into wedding season I have been exploring what trends are hip for 2019. There are so many different ideas out there! I love that people can personalize their wedding in simple ways, but that have a distinctive impact, reflecting one’s style, personality, and current trends!

Bridal jumpsuits are IN! I can see why— there are so many stunning options! If you are looking for non-traditional wedding attire, or an alternative for your reception, something like this is a great option.

2. Living Jewelry

Living jewelry is the new bouquet! This modern version leaves your hands free and adds a unique touch.

3. Eco Friendly Accessories

Sustainable items are trending, so using leaves for place cards is genius! It’s so simple, yet whimsy and beautiful.

4. Bridal Hats

Whether it’s a fedora or a floppy hat, it’s the perfect head-turning accessory to your boho bridal look!

5. Lighting

Forget the flowers as a backdrop! Using radiant lighting is a romantic and charming option. Back lighting also makes for amazing photos!

6. Unique Venues

PEI Brewing Company

Breweries are one of the hottest venues for 2019. They offer a casual, fun and down-to-earth venue– not to mention a good beer!

7. Glam Bar

Dancing is one of the best parts of a wedding! BUT, it’s easy for your hair and makeup to need a (several) good touch-up (s). This is where the beauty bar comes in. With hired professionals to get your make-up and hair back on point, the evening is yours to own!

It’s 2019, y’all!

New Year’s resolutions can sound cliché these days, but I have been thinking about this concept a lot. I don’t normally make resolutions, per se, but I *always* reflect on the year behind me and things I would like to rediscover or improve — this has always felt like a natural thing to do. After a quick google search, I found that resolutions are in fact an ancient tradition dating back ca. 4,000 years ago. So my instincts were right . . . there is something natural about it. If you have a moment, you can read about the history here.

The Roman God, Janus. Looking back on the previous year and ahead to the future.

Back to goals! Perhaps you got engaged over the holiday season, or you are pondering proposing to your partner and want to pick out a ring. Maybe you have been engaged for a while and are ready to start planning! It could be that you want to start a wedding planning business and don’t know where to start! Where ever you are at, I have a few tips to get you started.

  1. Are you wanting to propose to your partner? That can be overwhelming, I know! But, I’m here to give you a few ideas. The main goal is to just be you however you choose to propose! One can keep it really simple and sweet , or go all out and hire a professional service to help you plan.

2. There is the invigorating experience of choosing a ring! You can keep it traditional and choose one for him or her, or take your fiancé with you. Either way, here is a head-start to some of the hottest ring trends for 2019.

3. Perhaps writing and practicing the words you will use when you propose is something you have been thinking about. Here are some ideas to get you started.

4. If you are already engaged and ready to take next step, a save-the-date card is in order. We can customize them to fit your unique style! We can do cards or magnets (how cool is that idea?).

5. If you have been pondering starting a new business, I found this great article from Forbes to help get you started.

Tips for Surviving a Summer Wedding

So, you are having a summer wedding. Good luck!! Weddings in the heat of the summer can be challenging, particularly in places such as Texas, Arizona, Louisiana or other locations with very hot summers.  If you do choose to have an outdoor ceremony in spite of the heat, here are a few tips to help you and your guests survive:

Put a drink in their hands

Instead of passing out glasses of champagne as your guests arrive, why not have decorative pitchers of fruit-infused ice water at the entrance of your outdoor ceremony. Since some fruit, like watermelon and mango, can help reduce body temperature, guests can settle down in their seats with a drink that’ll keep them cool while you say “I do.”

Keep Guests Cool with a Fan or Hand-held Mister

Place a fan or hand-held mister at each chair or have someone give them out to your guests as they head down the aisle to be seated. The more economical fan can do double duty as a program and help keep your guests cool. Print the ceremony on the fan and tie a colorful ribbon around the stick and voila, you have the wedding program and a practical fan.

A hand-held fan does double duty as a way to keep guests cool and as the ceremony program. Dress it up with a ribbon for an added bit of elegance.

A hand-held mister not only keeps your guests cool during the ceremony or reception, they also make great wedding favors that can be used by your guests throughout the hot summer months.  Just fill the tank with water, add batteries and hand out to guests as they arrive, or leave one on every other seat.

Hand out Personalized Bottled Water

Make sure to keep your guests hydrated with lots of water. Fill a bucket with ice and add personalized bottled water.  It is an inexpensive way to keep your guests cool.

Offer your Guests a Cool Pair of Sunglasses

Wayfarer, aviator, cat-eye, it doesn’t matter, cool shades equals a cool ceremony. Not only will guests be able to see the wedding without squinting, they’ll also look extra stylish.

Essential Rules for Bridesmaid Gift Giving

dreamstime_m_74858725.jpgGiving a bridesmaid gift is a way to say thank you for being a part of your wedding. Your bridesmaids give a lot of time, attention, and money to make the wedding perfect for the you, the bride. This can include helping with the shower, planning the bachelorette party, answering a million questions, and spending money on things like a bridesmaid dress, hair, makeup, shoes, and gifts for the shower, bachelorette, and wedding. That’s a lot of work! Give your bridesmaid (or Maid of Honor) a great gift that is both thoughtful and sincere – she’ll appreciate it!

Select a unique gift for each bridesmaid

While it is okay to give each bridesmaid the same gift, say, a robe or a blanket or shawl, make sure that your personalize it by choosing each’s favorite color. But it might be more special to choose a gift that fits each of the ladies’ personal tastes or interests. For example how about an embroidered Trendz workout tote for the exercise enthusiast or a wine carrier for the wine lover?

The Trendz fitness tote makes going to the gym easy.

Personalized Wine Carrier Kit

This wine carrier kit is a great gift for the wine lover.

Or, for the avid reader, how about a cool e-reader cover or an engraved bookmark?

Protect your Kindle Fire with this PU leather case!

Engraved Bookmark

For the avid reader in your wedding party, this engraved bookmark is the perfect gift.

Most ladies like a great “on the go” tote like the ones shown below that are attractive but that can hold a lot of items for a busy lifestyle.

Personalized Classic Cotton Tote

This practical and modern classic cotton tote is a great gift for the ladies in your wedding party.

Make sure that the gift is something that she can use again

If you are getting all of the ladies matching robes or wraps, make sure it is something that she will want to wear long after the wedding. A comfy robe  with her initial or name embroidered on it is perfect. Or a warm embroidered blanket that she will use for years to come.

What not to give your bridesmaids

Do not give them something with “bridesmaid” written on it like the shirt that your bridesmaids wear to the girls’ night out party as their gift. That should be given in addition to the special gift. Also, don’t give them anything with your wedding monogram on it … that is okay for favors, but not as a personal gift.

The best time to give your bridesmaid gift

The best time to give your bridesmaid gift is the morning of the wedding, either while getting ready or sometime before the ceremony especially if the gift is for getting ready (a robe), carried (a clutch), or worn (jewelry). If the gift is for the home or hobby-related, give the gift at the rehearsal dinner so she doesn’t have to carry it around or find a place to store it at the wedding.

Always include a personal note with the gift

Let her know how much you appreciate everything that she did for the wedding and her friendship. Be specific and make sure the note is handwritten. It means so much more.

Sunny Summer Wedding Ideas

2015 was the year of baby pinks and nudes, from table settings to bridesmaids dresses. In 2016, we’re ditching the neutrals in favor of something a little more “sunny.” This summer, make your wedding truly shine with bright punches of color against fresh white backdrops.

Invitations

For invitations, we’re loving looks like this festive yellow pineapple ikat print. Many people shy away from color in their invitations because they fear that it will look outdated or juvenile. This invitation suite pairs a pop of color with a more natural material and uses a simple modern font to keep the look mature (as opposed to saying “crayon box”).

Table Setting

We love the way this table setting inspiration from Style Me Pretty pairs crisp white linens with colorful accents. The use of a warm color palette also keeps the variety of colors looking coordinated and effortless rather than mismatched.

Reception Details

Your reception is the time to truly showcase your style and attention to detail. We love the idea of ordering personalized sunglasses (with your new last name & wedding date) for guests. This inexpensive treat is perfect for an outdoor daytime ceremony and/or reception when the Texas sun is in full force.

We’re also loving this self- serve beverage station idea. Instead of doing the usual signature wedding cocktails, this twist allows guests to more easily sample the drink options and makes for a beautiful sunny reception detail that works perfectly with your color scheme

Invitation Trends for 2016

Happy 2016! A lot of couples got engaged over the holidays and now are starting to plan their weddings.  After deciding the date and venue, now it is time to start thinking about your wedding colors, style and invitations. According to the wedding gurus, there are a number of exciting trends when it comes to invitations in 2016. Here are just a few to think about.

Color, color, color …

Forget about the traditional black ink on white or ecru paper, 2016 is the year of color. Whether it is bright splashes of color or a dark and moody color, such as navy, plum, even black, couples are moving to the non-traditional when it comes to color.

Watercolor invitations are also trending in 2016. Here is one of our favorites from our Carlson Craft collection:

Envelope Liners

And, speaking of color, brides are incorporating color not only into the invitation itself, but also into the envelope liners. This inner layer is the first thing guests will see when they excitedly tear open your invite. Liners are a great finishing touch and the perfect place to add fun design elements, like a sketch of the skyline, or a personal detail, like your wedding date. Pair with a colored envelope for really eye-catching mail.

Check out a couple of colorful liners from our Carlson Craft Collection.

Creative Monograms

In 2016 we are entering a whole new world of custom monograms. Forget about the letter-locking designs of the past; couples today are looking for unique monograms that incorporate elements that are special to them. Not only are couples using the monogram on invitations, napkins, and favors, but they are also incorporating the design into the their personal stationery.

Below is a logo that we designed for a Texas couple who wanted an armadillo to be part of their custom logo. We used it on the save the dates, the invitations, the cups, even the program.

The Beauty of a Winter Wedding

We love the ethereal beauty of winter weddings. Being in Austin, TX we very rarely get snow but we love seeing the wintery white wedding photos in snow. Even without the beauty of a fresh white snow as your wedding backdrop, there are other things you can do to remind your guests of that feeling. Beautiful lighting, whites or cream colors, intricate beading, they all make us think of a gorgeous winter wedding.

Floating candles and white roses are beautiful together.

This beautiful beaded cape would be a nice touch to a classic silk dress.

And for favors you could give treats reminiscent of what you might get at a cozy ski lodge or give out candle holders with snowflakes on them. These could be used on the tables to create great candle lit lighting and then the guests could take them away as a reminder of the great time they had at your wedding.

As always, we love to hear how you created your beautiful wedding. And pictures are the best! Now we will just wait and see if we luck out and get some snow in Austin this year…
